Ahmad MORADI & Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arif SARIÇOBANT
o investigate the relationship between motivation and cognitive strategies with special reference to the
differences between Turkish and Iranian students of English (n=898), Deci and Ryan’s (1985) self-determination theory, and
Oxford’s (1990) strategy inventory for language learning were adapted. The results showed Turkish and Iranian students
were both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated. Iranian students’ motivation level was more than Turkish students and
Turkish students mostly used receiving and sending strategy, whereas Iranian students mostly used the cognitive strategy of
creating structures for input and output. Motivation and four regulations in extrinsic motivation were positively correlated
and there was an ordered pattern between motivation types and regulations. The more students were internally motivated the
more they used cognitive strategies. Moreover, amotivation was negatively correlated to all types of cognitive strategies. In
addition, there were significant gender differences within integrated regulation, external regulation, amotivation, and use of
analyzing and reasoning strategy.

THE EFFECTS OF TEACHERS’ ORGANIZATIONAL JUSTICE PERCEPTIONS ON ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT
Yrd. Doç. Dr. Özhan ÖZTUĞ & Uzm. Mert BAŞTAŞOrganizational justice perception enables the individual to determine whether he or she, in an organization, is
treated fairly or not. As a consequence of this perception, positive or negative attitudes towards work are acquired. This study
based on relational screening model, aimed to identify the level of teacher’s organizational justice perception and the variables
affecting this perception. It also intended to explain to what extend does this concept of justice effect their organizational
commitment. A sample of 225 teachers and school administrators, working in secondary level schools under TRNC Ministry of
Education, Youth and Sports, are involved in the study. Niehoff and Moorman’s (1993) “Organizational Justice Perception
Scale” and “Organizational Commitment Scale” (Allen and Meyer, 1990) were used. In addition, Cronbach’s Alpha Test has
been performed in order to test the internal consistency. This study tried to reflect if there existed a missing notion of justice

ON PRESERVICE TEACHERS' ATTITUDES TOWARDS THEIR PROFESSION AND FUTURE PLANS AFTER THEIR GRADUATION
Yrd. Doç. Dr. Canan YANIK, Arş. Gör. Nazan SEZEN & Öğr. Gör. Meltem SARI UZUNHigher Education period of individuals is the time period in which future plans are intensively made.
Although most of the students set targets related to their own study domain, some of them may tend to prefer different
professions. Taking this fact into consideration, this study aims to determine attitudes towards the teaching profession and
future plans of preservice teachers who study at the Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education and the
Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology (CEIT). For this purpose, “Personal Information Form”
and “Attitudes Towards Teaching Profession Scale” has been applied to preservice teachers . Preservice teachers’ future
plans and anxiety about their profession were investigated using the items included in The Personal Information Form. Data
obtained from the scale have been analysed with One Way ANOVA test. According to the results, there is a significant
difference between preservice teachers’ attitudes towards their profession in terms of department and their professional
future plans. Preservice teachers who aim both to work as a teacher and to make academic career have the highest attitude,
on the other hand, those who do not plan to work as teacher have the lowest attitude towards teaching profession

CONTENT VALIDITY MEASURES IN SCALE DEVELOPMENT STUDIES: COMPARISON OF CONTENT VALIDITY INDEX AND KAPPA STATICS
Doç. Dr. Halil YURDUGÜL & Arş. Gör. Fatma BAYRAK It can be stated that there are two phases in the scale development process. The first phase is designing
the scale; and the other phase is pre-application. There are different validity concepts specific to each phase. Particularly,
while content and face validities have leading role in designing scale, the construct and criterion validities have come to the
forefront in pre-application phase. In fact, content validity is prerequisite for construct validity. Content validity is often
established through qualitative expert reviews. Content validity information often derives from reviews to be undertaken
by subject matter experts as qualitative data. However, there are some studies about transforming these qualitative data into
quantitative form; because it is difficult to report qualitative reviews of experts. Content Validity Index (CVI) and kappa
statistics have come to the forefront in the studies. The purpose of the present study is to examine the consistency of Content
Validity Index (CVI) and kappa statistics. For the purpose, in designing phase for a developing scale, data obtained from ten
expert judges were analyzed with two approaches. In pre-application, the consistency of Content Validity Index (CVI) and
kappa statistics with average variance extracted (AVE) and factor loadings obtained from factor analysis were examined.

TECHNIQUES OF TEACHING JUNCTURE
Metin YURTBAŞIJuncture phonemes are very important sound structures in applied phonetics and phonology. Therefore, they must betaught
properly so that non-native students of English language can master the spoken form of the target language. Inphonetics, they
are the features in speech that enable a hearer to detect a beginning, word boundary, ups and downs, and end of utterances in
relation to articulatory timing that refers to both the duration of and overlap among articulatory gestures during speech. The
appropriate use of juncture is important for both the speakers and listeners for correct communication because juncture in
phonetics juncture belongs to intonation which brings up appropriacy and intelligibility to the pronunciation and
communication process. According to Roach (2009), since the position of juncture (or word boundary) can cause a
perceptual difference, and therefore potential misunderstanding, it is usually recommended that learners of English should
practice making and recognizing such differences.
