ATTITUDES AND THOUGHTS OF PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS’ CONCERNING EDUCATION PROGRAMS

ÖZET
Bu çal ış man ı n amac ı okulöncesi ve s ını f ö ğ retmenli ğ i ö ğ retmen adaylar ını n e ğ itim programlar ı na ili ş kin tutum ve dü ş üncelerini, cinsiyet, ö ğ retim program ı ve s ını f de ğiş kenlerine ba ğlı olarak incelemektir. Bu amaçla likert tipi maddelerden olu ş an bir ölçme arac ı ve aç ı k uçlu klasik sorulardan olu ş an di ğ er bir ölçme arac ı , Yak ı n Do ğ u Üniversitesi okulöncesi ve s ını f ö ğ retmen adaylar ı na uygulanm ıştı r. Bu ö ğ rencilerin (n=294) 199’u kad ı n ve 95 ‘ i ise erkektir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre cinsiyet ve takip edilen program de ğiş kenleri aç ısı ndan bak ı ld ığı nda ö ğ retmen adaylar ını n e ğ itim programlar ı na ili ş kin tutumlar ı aras ı nda anlaml ı bir farkl ılı k bulunmam ıştı r. S ını f ö ğ retmen adaylar ını n programlara ili ş kin tutumlar ı pozitif ve kat ılı yorum düzeyinde bulunmu ş tur. S ını f de ğiş kenine göre herhangi anlaml ı bir fark olmad ığı tespit edilirken, okulöncesi öğ retmen adaylar ını n birinci s ını flar ı ile ikinci s ını flar ı ve birinci s ını flar ı ile üçüncü s ını flar ı aras ı nda, birinci s ını flar ı lehine anlaml ı farklar tespit edilmi ş tir. Farkl ı bir dizi nitel ara ştı rma sonucu ise bu çal ış mada elde edilmi ş ve tart ışı lm ıştı r.

ABSTRACT
The aim of the present research study is to reveal the thoughts and attitudes of kindergarten and primary school teacher candidates concerning education programs taking gender, teaching program, classes as variables. For this purpose a questionary including a likert type questions and an open ended classical questions were applied to prospective kindergarten and primary school students attending the Education Faculty of Near East University. Of these (n=294) 199 were girls and 95 were boys. Results showed that teacher candidates showed a positive attitude to the programs (mean score of 3,509, agree). There is no significant difference between pupils’ attitudes to the education programs taking into gender and programs carried out as independent variables. While there is no significant difference found concerning the classes of prospective primary school teachers, it is found that there is a significant difference between grade one and grade two and grade one and grade three concerning kindergarten teacher candidates in favour of the first graders. A variety of qualitative research results were also found and implications for education were discussed.
