it
seems
that
the
succes
of
the

in
the

of
the

depends
on
par-
tially
his/her
background,
the
relation
of

to

the

whether

whether

For

technological

are
the
most
important
goal
of
many
countries
in
the
world.
This
technological
development
is
created
by
the
aid
of
science.
Science
education
given
to
students
in
high
school
and
university
can
create
individuals
who
adapt
the
tech-
nological
changes
and
innovations
easily.
Also,
science
education
programs
in
schools
can
help
students
to
de-
velop
their
thinking
abilities.
These
may
be
creative
ability,
critical
thinking
ability
or
formal
reasoning
ability.
These
higher
mental
processes
are
stressed
because
this
type
of
learning
enables
individuals
to
apply
their
learning
ability
to
many
problems
in
school

and
in
daily

Students

abilities
can
understand
the
re-
lationships
among
scientific
concepts
and

easily,
and
they
can

situations.
For
these

the
main
purpose
of

to

High

PERSPECTlVES FOR BIOLOGICAL EDUCATION-CHALLENGE FOR BIOLOGY INSTRUCTION AT THE END OF THE 20th CENTURY
