HE TEAM SYSTEM: HOW DOES SCOUTING HELP YOUNGS' SOCIAL DEVELOPMENTS ?
Hakkı ÇAMURThere are many international youth works
on individual development of children and youngsters.
Scouting along with formal education, is one of the world's
most important youth movements which can shape up
youths for the future. Scouiing, which is the world's largest
non-formal educational movement uses a method in order
to achieve its aims. The scouting movement aims to help
bring up individuals that are responsible, sensitive, able to
express themselves and who can fight for their rights into
society. The "Patroırream System" established within
scouting is the largest attributing factor in the social
development of an individual. Members of a team are in
constant interaction with each other. The aim of this study,
is to present the attributjon of the scouting movement upon
the social development of youths.

DER EINFLUSS EINER "KLIMAFREUNDLICHEN" LERNATMOSPHAREN AUF LERNEN UND LEHREN AN GVMNASIEN UND HOCHSCHULEN
Yrd. Doç. Emine ERDEM, Prof. Dr. İnci MORGİL & Doç. Dr. Ayhan YILMAZThe aim of this study is to determine
wether there is a relationship between the students'
aUitudes, behaviour and the educational seuing. Secondary
education students and higher education students were
participatedin the study. To elicit the views of the students
involved a questionnaire",ith 12 items was administeredto
73 secondary education students and to 145 higher
education students. The results obtained indicate that
gaining information and having a good job have become
importantin relation to the increased age insteadof having
good marks. Also the studentshave poor cooperative study
views and poor responsibility. However in the environment
protecton-energy saving topic, a collobarative studyof
teachers, students and parents seems to be an effective
technique for the students

ANOMALIES ASSOCIAYED WIYH SCHOOL EXPERIENCES: WHAY YEACHER CANDIDAYES ENCOUNYER
Assist. Prof. Dr. Ercan KİRAZThe purpose of this review is to lınderline
some important aspects of school experiences stated in the
literature. All individuals desire a better-educated teacher
ın the field. Even though universities and schools of
education are insisting on educating future teachers more
competently than ever before, teacher educatOfs are kind of
negligent to the realities during teaching practicum. As a
requirement of pre-service education, teacher candidates
are being sent to public schools to practice what they have
leamt in college. But what they have encountered should
be known by educators to overcome the problems. This
review mainly concentrates on the relationship among
ıeacher candidates and supervising teachers and its
unexpected results.

EFFECT OF PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS ON ACHIEVEMENT RELATED TO UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
Prof. Dr. İnci MORGİL , Doç. Dr. Ayhan YILMAZ & Prof. Dr. Ömer GEBANThe aehievement scores that are identified
as a result of the university entrance exam determinewhieh
fields students will study in the university. These exams
include numerical fields (Biology, Physics, Chemistry and
Mathematies) and verbal fields (Social Sciences, Turkish)
and in these exams three different types of scores are
computed: numerical, verbal and equal weight. In orderto
get higher scores, studentsoften attendto private edueation
institutions. These edııeational praetices are controlled by
the pilot exams and it is aimed at remediating the deficient
knowledge of students. In this study, with the aim of
determining the impaet of private edueation institutionsto
the achievement of studentin the university entranceexam,
all data regarding 314 subjeets who attended to a private
educationinstitutionwere statistically analysed. As a result
of this statisticalanalysis, the aehievement was found to be
increased following the private education. The other majo!
findings are that there was a statistically significant
relationship between pilot exams (ÖSS-AD and ÖSSD)
and Student Seleetion Exam (ÖSS) and that differem
outcomes were observed in the regions involved.

PRESERVICE BIOLOGY TEACHERS' PERCEIVED EPPICACY BELIEPS IN TEACHING BIOLOGY
Ayşe SAVRAN & Dr. Jale ÇAKIROĞLUSelf-efficacy beliefs have received
increasing attention in educational studies. According to
Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory, self-efficacy was
measuredas two distinct constructs, personal self-efficacy
and outcome expectancy. Self-efficacy can be defined as
the teachers' belief in hislher ability to perform teaching;
and outcome expectancy reflects a teacher's belief that
student achievement can be influenced by effective
teaching. The purpose of this study is to assess preservice
biology teachers' self-efficacy beliefs with regard to
biology teaching. For this purpose, Biology Teaching
Efficacy Belief Instrument (BTEBI) was administered to
29 preservice biology teachers at the Middle East

A PROPOSAL RELATED TO ADDING THE CORROSION TOPIC ON TO THE CHEMISTAY PROGRAMS AT SECONDARY SCHOOL LEVEL
Arş. Gör. Mükerrem ŞAHİN, Doç. Dr. Ayhan YILMAZ & Prof. Dr. İnci MORGİLCorrosion, as a topic, is one of the mostimportanttopics
in chemistry, physics and biology. Corrosion
may be defined as the transforming of metals into their natural
state through the reaction with environment. Along
with the innovations in industry its importance has raised
and it leads to the fact that teaching it to the students is of
great importance. In the science programs at secondary
education, there is no topic related to corrosion. Thus, the
secondary education chemistry programs were reviewed
firstly. Then a 14 item survey questionnairewas developed
to measure the knowledge of secondary education and university
studentsregarding the reasons of corrosionand their
views on the topic. Questionnaire was administratedto
445 students. The findings obtained indicated that the students
know the reasons of daily events but that they were
not aware of the relationship between these daily events
and corrosion. As a result a framework that is necessary to
cover corrosion and related suggestions are developed.
