THE INVESTIGATION OF ILLUSTRATED CHILDREN’S BOOKS WHERE VISUAL ARTISTS ARE PORTRAYED
Yrd.Doç.Dr. Burcu AKHUNThe contemporary art education has four dimensions: art production, aesthetics, art history and art criticism. In the content of art history, there are also life stories of artist, as well as art media, art styles and periods. The knowledge of art history provides children to evaluate and interpret artifacts from their own point of views, by this way they develop their own aesthetic understanding. Art history also takes children to a journey to the humankind. Art history is a powerful vehicle by telling real artists’ “real life stories” to children that provide them “real life lessons”. Under the light of that idea, this study aims to investigate the present state of illustrated children’s books where the visual artists’ were portrayed. The education of those artists’, their art styles, the socio-cultural and economic conditions in their time period that they influenced their arts, their families and close friends, and the role of incidents happened in their real life, and the messages given to children were explored in the study. MEASURING WORKING MEMORY BY USING A MULTIMEDIA BASED TASK
Prof. Dr. Arif ALTUN & Arş. Gör. Vildan ÇEVIKAs an important part of adaptive learning systems, and having a leading role when measured in individual differences literature, working memory (WM) is an important variable for determining individual differences. N-back tasks are kind of measuring scales/tools of working memory and oftenly used in recently studies. When talking about cognitive processes, executive functions are the first thing coming to mind. They are related to prefrontal cortex of the brain and controlled by “central executive” according to Baddeley’s Model of WM. As named “workbench of cognition” by Klatzky (1980), WM is more than short term memory (STM). WM keeps information in a specific time (what STM does), then transforms the information according to the required components of performance and combines the all parts for a conclusion. In other words, WM has an important role in processing and construction of knowledge. The aim of this study is to discuss the usage of a multi-media based open source n-back task software, which is translated into Turkish by researchers, as a data collection tool and to share usage suggestions in learning environments.

A STUDY OF APPLICABILITY IN CONTACT SPECIFIC TO RADIO-TV-FILM DEPARTMENT FACULTY OF EDUCATION
Dr. Mustafa Ufuk ÇELİKThe reprimand that graduates of Faculties of Communications are inadequate within the media sector focuses upon the point that no or insufficient information and experience pertaining to the Field is passed on to the students while they are doing their degree. It has been observed that within the corridors of Television stations and Media Outlets, the administrative level is mostly critiquing the fact that the ‘Schooled’ personnel (those that have received a formal training rather than those who rose from the ranks of apprenticeship) have very little ability to perform in the field due to their lack of experience. As a result, the insufficiency of experience gained at the faculties has given much way to a lot of belittling and thus has made it necessary to scrutinize the education offered at these faculties. How appropriate is the education being offered to what is necessary in the field? Pinpointing the expectations the work field constitutes so that graduates will meet the requirements. This study will also determine the density in the number of university graduates working in the sector and its effects on the sector and it will help resolve the existing problems. This study aims to explore how compatible the predominantly theoretical education offered and knowledge gained at these faculties is to how things operate in the work field of Radio and Television institutions, newspapers, magazines, periodicals and all media organs. One on one interviews, literature reviews and qualitative research methods such as observations will be conducted. The interview form, which will be presented to academicians and people of management positions in the media sector, will be composed of semi-structured questions. Content analysis method will be used to evaluate the collected data. The one on one meetings and the interviews carried out in the field of application concur that graduates from existing Faculties of Communications, academicians in this field and management level media personnel are not well equipped for implementing their knowledge in the field since there is little correspondence between what is taught at the Faculties and what is required in the field. Furthermore, the areas in which their knowledge can be implemented are fairly restricted.

COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE VIEWS OF PARTICIPANTS FOR THE USAGE OF LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES
Assist.Prof.Dr. Gökmen DAĞLISince the importance of the usage of educational technologies is increasing day by day, teachers need to save the lessons from traditionality and let the students gain their own technological literacy. The aim of this study here is to maintain the thoughts of the teachers, students and school administrators on the issue of using learning technologies based on constructivist approach at the primary school level with comparisons and then trying to improve the educational quality of our country in order to catch up with the world wide reforms done in this field. Interview and observation techniques, as the methods of qualitative research, are used in this study. As a result of this study it is found that the teachers are not capable of using the whole capacity of the learning technologies. That is why there should be an increase in the number of in-house education seminars. Not only the contents of those seminars should be designed for effective usage of technological tools but also there should be exercises for teachers to have active role during those seminars and teachers should be informed with the concept of constructivist education.

WORD STRESS AND VOCABULARY ITEM RELATIONS IN TEACHER TRAINING
Prof. Dr. Mehmet DEMİREZENOne of the major issues in spoken English is to understand how listeners recognize the word stress. Word stress is an abstract property of the words that is not always acoustically realized in the speech signal. In English language, nuclear stress mobility, which is the establisher of accentuation in the interlingual speech, is not perceived by a great majority of Turkish English teachers and trainees. In the present study, how the mobility of the primary stress acts to and pro in the structure of the English vocabulary items will be demonstrated by using electronic dictionaries. The problem-causing vocabulary items in nuclear stress placement, like démocrat-demócracy-democrátic and arístocrat- aristócracy-aristocrátic can be downloaded by the Audacity program and the mobility of stress in their phonetic and phonemic transcriptions can be exhibited via computer applications in teaching vocabulary items and a designed lesson plan is also possible to rehabilitate the fossilized stress errors.

THE EXPECTATION AND SATISFACTION LEVELS OF EDUCATIONAL FACULTY STUDENTS ABOUT MANAGERIAL AND ACADEMIC SERVICES
Dr. Hasan Eriş & Hatice ÇapkınerMajority of the university students have big expectations when they begin university life and their ideas for achieving these expectations reveal the degree of their university expectations. Individual, institutional and social competition makes it obvious to reach the peak in information society especially an intensive competition among universities. It will be advantageous to give importance and priority for universities and conduct this type of researches to present more qualified services for competitors in such a competitive environment. This study aims to present the degree of expectations and satisfaction of the students of Education Faculty by taking into consideration physical conditions of the faculty, courses, management characteristics and instructors. Small difference between expectation and satisfaction of the university shows that students’ expectations are met with good performance, when there is a big difference it shows that performance is not good in a particular area. On the other hand, when the degree of expectations is high and satisfaction degree is low universities should use intervention immediately and create development programs. When the degree of expectation and satisfaction are high, universities are considered to be strong in providing academic services and advantages. When the degree of expectation is low and the degree of satisfaction is high, universities exceed the services of expectations of the students, but this situation is very rare.
