THE EFFECT OF THE ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACH ON THE ACHIEVEMENT

ÖZET
Bu araflt›rmada nicel verilerden faydalan›larak Fen Bilgisi ö¤retiminde etkin ö¤renme yaklafl›m›n›n erifliye etkisine bak›lm›flt›r. Araflt›rma Ankara ili Çankaya ilçesinde bulunan Seyranba¤lar› ‹lkö¤retim okulu 5. s›n›f ö¤rencilerinden iki grup üzerinde yürütülmüfltür. Araflt›rmada kontrol gruplu ön test son test deseni kullan›lm›flt›r. Kontrol grubunda geleneksel ö¤retim, deney grubunda etkin ö¤renme yaklafl›m› uygulanm›flt›r. Nicel verilerin analizinde aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma ve ba¤›ms›z gruplarda t testi kullan›lm›flt›r. Araflt›rmadan elde edilen bulgular flöyle özetlenebilir.Fen Bilgisi dersinde Etkin Ö¤renme Yaklafl›m›n›n uyguland›¤› deney grubu ile geleneksel ö¤retimin uyguland›¤› kontrol grubu aras›nda toplam erifli ortalamalar› aras›nda deney grubu lehine anlaml› bir fark bulunmufltur.


ABSTRACT
In this research, the effects of the active learning approach in the science studies teaching on achievement was examined by using the quantitative data. The research was carried out on two different groups of the fifth class pupils of Seyranba¤lar› Primary School that is located at Çankaya in Ankara. Pre and post-test with control group design was applied in the research. While the conventional teaching approach was implemented in the control group, the active learning approach was implemented in the experimental group. In the analysis of the quantitative data, mean, standart deviation and the t test in independent groups were used.The findings can be summarized as follows: A significant difference was found in the means of the total gain scores between the active learning approach treated in the science course experimental group and the conventional teaching approach treated in the science course group. The means of the experimental group was better than the control group.
