ÖZET
Bu çal›flman›n amac› Türkiye’deki lise 10. s›n›f ö¤rencilerinin bilimin do¤as› hakk›nda bak›fl aç›lar›n› araflt›rmakt›r.
Araflt›rmaya Türkiye’nin yedi co¤rafik bölgesinden seçilen 21 ilden toplam 1994 ö¤renci (872 k›z, 1121 erkek) kat›lm›flt›r.
Kat›l›mc›lar›n “bilimin do¤as›” hakk›ndaki görüfllerini de¤erlendirmek için “Bilimin Do¤as› Hakk›ndaki Görüfller” (VOSTS)
anketinden 6 soru bu çal›flma için seçilerek, Türkçe’ye adapte edilmifl ve kullan›lm›flt›r. Sonuçlar, ö¤rencilerin bilimin do¤as›
konusunda birçok kavram yan›lg›s›na sahip olduklar›n› göstermifltir. Kat›l›mc›lar›n bilimin tan›m›, bilim insanlar›n›n özellikleri,
bilimin temel varsay›mlar› hakk›nda geleneksel görüfllere sahip olduklar› tespit edilmifltir. Ayr›ca ö¤rencilerin bilimin do¤as›
hakk›ndaki görüfllerinin cinsiyet, okul tipleri ve bulunduklar› bölgelere göre gözlenen fark›n anlaml› oldu¤u bulunmufltur.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the views of 10th grade students on the nature of science (NOS) in
Turkey. Atotal of 1994 high school students (872 girls, 1121 boys) from 21 different cities of seven geographical regions in Turkey
participated in the study. Data were collected utilizing modified version of Views on Science-Technology-Society (VOSTS)
questionnaire. The results of the study revealed the misconceptions of students on the NOS. The results of this study also indicated
that the participants held traditional views on the definition of the science, fundamental assumptions of science, the characteristics of
scientist and the effects of society on science and technology. In addition, there were significant differences in students’ views on the
NOS by region, school types and gender.
