ÖZET
İletişimin uygarlığın temeli olduğu tartışılmaz. Günümüzde ileri iletişim teknolojisi ürünleri, özellikle hızla gelişim gosteren bilgisayar ve internet ağı, her alanda olduğu gibi, eğitim ve yabancı dil öğretiminde de oldukça geniş bir yer almaktadır. Gerek her yıl piyasaya sürülen birçok CD, DVD, gerekse internet ortamındaki çok sayıda site ve “blog”lar birçok alanın yanı sıra, yabancı dil öğretimi konusunda da oldukça iddialıdırlar. Bu durum, “makinenin” eğitimde ve yabancı dil öğretimi alanında öğretmenin yerini alıp almayacağı sorusunu akla getirmektedir. Makalemizde bu konuyu farklı açılardan ele alıp, makinenin katkılarının, güçlü ve zayıf yönlerinin yanı sıra öğretmenin eğitim ve öğretimdeki yerini, olmazsa olmaz katkılarını irdeleyerek, ne kadar gelişmiş olursa olsun, hiçbir teknoloji ürününün öğretmenin yerini asla alamayacağı sonucuna ulaştık.

ABSTRACT
Communication is undoubtedly the foundation of civilisation. High technology products, specifically the fast expanding and developing computers and the Internet, occupy considerably a great place in training and foreign language education as they do in all spheres of life. Both the CDs and the DVDs marketed continuously as well as the many web sites and blogs are quite challenging in this respect as they are in other areas. This fact brings into mind the question whether “machines” can take the place of teachers in education, especially in teaching foreign languages. We review this topic with various aspects and identify the pros and cons of the machines and the place of teachers in training and education. As a conclusion, we point that irrespective of the level of development of any tool of technology, the teachers cannot be replaced in this regard.
