OPINIONS OF TEACHER CANDIDATES REGARDING THE LEARNING-THROUGH-EXAM METHOD

ÖZET
Sınav Yoluyla Öğrenme Yöntemi (SYÖY), değerlendirme yöntemlerinin öğretme-öğrenme sürecinde bir öğrenme aracı olarak kullanılmasıdır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Öğretim Teknolojileri ve Materyal Geliştirme dersinde uygulanan SYÖY’ne ilişkin öğretmen adaylarının görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmada, dersin tüm teorik konuları on hafta süresince bu yönteme göre işlenmiştir. Sonuçlar, öğretmen adaylarının büyük çoğunluğunun bu yöntemin anlamlı öğrenmeye ve sınavlara hazırlanmaya katkı sağladığına katıldıklarını göstermiştir. Bu konuda, kız öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilere göre, Büro Yönetimi, İşletme ve Muhasebe Eğitimi Bölümü öğrencilerinin de Turizm Eğitimi Bölümü öğrencilerine göre anlamlı düzeyde daha olumlu görüş belirttikleri tespit edilmiştir. Diğer yandan, SYÖY’nin ezbere öğrenmeyi teşvik etmesi konusunda da bir kaygının olduğu ortaya çıkarılmıştır ve bu bulgu, öğrencilerin cinsiyeti ve bölümlerine göre herhangi bir farklılık göstermemiştir.

ABSTRACT
Learning-through-exam method (LTEM) is the use of assessment techniques in the teaching-learning process as a learning tool. The study aimed to ascertain teacher candidates’ opinions regarding LTEM applied in Educational Technology and Material Development course. In the study, theoretical topics were taught according to this method during ten weeks. The results revealed that most of the teacher candidates agreed on the contribution of LTEM to learning and the preparation for exams and, in this regard, attitudes of female students were significantly higher than male students and compared to the students in the Department of Tourism Education, those in the other departments had more positive attitudes. Besides, a concern about whether this method stimulates memorization was detected and this finding did not differ according to gender and department.
