THE PERCEPTIONS OF TEACHERS ABOUT THE CHANGE ON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM

ÖZET
İ lkö ğ retim I. kademede uygulanan fen bilgisi dersi, Türkiye’de 2004 y ı l ı nda Milli E ğ itim Bakanl ı ğ ı n ı n alm ı ş oldu ğ u kararla yeniden yap ı land ı r ı larak ad ı fen ve teknoloji dersi olarak de ğ i ş tirilmi ş , uygulamalar ı fen-teknoloji-toplum (FTT) e ğ itimine dayand ı r ı lm ı ş t ı r. Bu çal ı ş man ı n amac ı , ö ğ retmenlerin fen ve teknol oji dersinin amaçlar ı hakk ı ndaki görü ş leri ve derse ili ş kin bak ı ş aç ı lar ı n ı n 2004 ö ğ retim program ı do ğ rultusunda ö ğ retim süreci boyunca de ğ i ş ip de ğ i ş medi ğ ini incelemektir. Ara ş t ı rman ı n örneklemini, 2005-2006 ö ğ retim y ı l ı boyunca Ankara’da bulunan ilkö ğ retim okullar ı nda fen ve teknoloji dersine giren 75 s ı n ı f ö ğ retmeni olu ş turmaktad ı r. Çal ı ş mada betimleme (anke t) yöntemi uygulanm ı ş t ı r. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, 4. ve 5. s ı n ı f ö ğ retmenlerinin 2004 fen ve teknoloji program ı do ğ rultusunda derse ili ş kin görü ş leri, ö ğ retim süreci boyunca olumsuz yönde de ğ i ş im göstermi ş tir. Bu durum, fen ve teknoloji program ı ve e ğ itim sistemi içindeki amaçlar ı n yeniden gözden geçirilmesi, yap ı sal de ğ i ş ikliklere gidilmesi ve fen-teknoloji-toplum konular ı n ı n program içerisine yerle ş tirilmesi için çal ı ş malar ı n art ı r ı lmas ı gerekti ğ ini desteklemektedir.

ABSTRACT
Teachers need to rethink their beliefs on what is wo rth knowing about constructivist science and technology curriculum and education. The goal of this study is to inve stigation of teachers’ percepti ons about goals 2004 science and technology curriculum and course activities. The working unive rse of the research is based upon the teachers of elementary schools in fourth and fifth classes in A nkara the first and the second term of acad emic year 2005-2006. The subject consisted of 75 elementary school science and tec hnology teachers. A survey methodology was used in the study. Science and technology teachers showed discontent w ith the status of 2004 elementary school science and technology curriculum. This offers directions for revision of the goals in current science and technology curriculum.
