FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSEBOOK SELECTION IN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS

ÖZET
Ders kitabı, genel ve özel hedeflerin somutlaştınlarak sunulduğu, malzemenin bu hedeflere uygun olarak seçildiği, düzenlendiği, sımf içindeki öğretim sürecini, yöntemi, dersin aşamalarım, çalışma biçimlerini, öğrenci ve öğretmen etkileşimini belirleyen; araç gereç seçimini ve kullammını düzenleyen öğretim malzemesidir. Sınıf içi etkinliklerin saptanmasına, düzenlenmesine; hedeflere erişilip erişilmediğinin kontrolüne ve ölçülmesine yardınıcı olur. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye'deki İlk- ve ortaöğretirnde gö- revli yabancı dil öğretmenlerinin öğretim sürecini biçimleme, belirleme ve düzenlernede bu denli etkİsi olan ders kitaplarını seçmede kullanacağı ölçütler ele alınmıştır. Yabancı dil ders kitapları seçimindeki ölçütler, öğretim plam, öğrenciye uygunluk ve öğrenme/öğretme ortamına uygunluk çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiş ve öneriler sunulmuştur .

ABSTRACT
The coursebook is a teaching material in which general and specific goals are presented in a concrete way, the material is seleeted according to these goals; a teaching material which determines the in-class teaching phase, the method, the steps of the lesson, the style of the study, the mutual influence of the teacher-Iearner; that is, it organizes the seleetion and use of the teaching materials. It aids the determination and preparation of the in-class activities; controls and evaIuates whether the goals are reachd. in this study, the criteria which the foreign language teac<1ersworking in primary and secondary schools in Turkey will use when seleeting these such effective coursebooks for the formation, determination and organization of the teaching phase have been touched. The criteria for the selection of foreign language coursebooks have been evaIuated according to the framework of both the teaching plan and their suitability to the learner, and teaching-Ieanİng environment, and some suggestions have been offered, as welL.
