ÖZET
Milli E¤itim Bakanl›¤› taraf›ndan 2004-2005 ö¤retim y›l›nda uygulanmak üzere haz›rlanan yeni ö¤retim programlar›, e¤itim dünyas›ndaki ça¤dafl geliflimleri yakalamak için önemli bir ad›m say›labilir. Bu çal›flmada ‹lkö¤retim 1.-5. s›n›f Matematik Dersi Ö¤retim Program› (‹MDÖP), NCTM taraf›ndan 2000 y›l›nda haz›rlanan, okul matemati¤i için dikkate al›nmas› gereken prensip ve standartlar› aç›klayan Principles and Standards for School Mathematics (PSSM) adl› doküman› ölçüt al›narak incelenmifltir. Bu dokümanda yer alan prensipler ve standartlar, ‹MDÖP’le karfl›laflt›r›lm›flt›r. De¤erlendirme sonucunda ‹MDÖP’ün, ça¤dafl matematik e¤itimi konusunda, ö¤rencinin anlayarak ö¤renmesine olanak veren, onu ezbercilikten kurtaran, düflünmeyi ö¤renmesini hedefleyen bir yaklafl›mla haz›rland›¤› sonucuna var›lm›flt›r. Bununla birlikte, aralar›nda büyük ölçüde bir benzerlik olmas›na ra¤men, ‹MDÖP’te yer alan baz› prensip ve standartlar›n PSSM’nin gerisinde kald›¤› söylenebilir.


ABSTRACT
The recently developed elementary school curriculums can be labeled as a reform based attempt to achieve the contemporary educational changes in the world. In this study, the new elementary mathematics curriculum (‹MDÖP) was examined with respect to the document called Principles and Standards for School Mathematics (PSSM) published by NCTM. IMDOP was investigated for each subtitle in PSSM. After this investigation, it can be claimed that IMDOP was developed by considering a contemporary approach that making students learn by understanding and avoiding rote memorization. Although lots of similarities in these two programs can be encountered, it can be mentioned that the PSSM document was far beyond some principles and standards of IMDOP.
