ON PRESERVICE TEACHERS' ATTITUDES TOWARDS THEIR PROFESSION AND FUTURE PLANS AFTER THEIR GRADUATION

ÖZET
Bireylerin yüksek ö ğ renim süreçleri yo ğ un olarak, gelece ğ e ili ş kin planlar ı n yap ı ld ığı bir dönemdir. Ço ğ u öğ renci ö ğ renim alanlar ı do ğ rultusunda hedefler koysa da, baz ı lar ı farkl ı mesleklere yönelmeyi tercih edebilmektedirler. Bu dü ş ünceden hareketle çal ış mada; Ortaö ğ retim Fen ve Matematik Alanlar E ğ itimi Bölümü (OFMA) ve Bilgisayar ve Ö ğ retim Teknolojileri E ğ itimi Bölümü’nde (BÖTE) ö ğ renim gören ö ğ retmen adaylar ını n ö ğ retmenlik mesle ğ ine yönelik tutumlar ını n ve gelece ğ e ili ş kin planlar ını n belirlenmesi amaçlanm ıştı r. Bu amaçla ö ğ retmen adaylar ı na “Ki ş isel Bilgi Formu” ve “Ö ğ retmenlik Mesle ğ ine Yönelik Tutum Ölçe ğ i” uygulanm ıştı r. Ki ş isel bilgi formunda yer alan maddeler ile ö ğ retmen adaylar ını n gelece ğ e ili ş kin mesleki planlar ı ve mesleki kayg ı lar ı sorgulanm ıştı r. Ölçekten elde edilen veriler Tek Yönlü Anova tekni ğ i ile analiz edilmi ş tir. Analiz sonuçlar ı na göre; ö ğ retmen adaylar ını n ö ğ retmenlik mesle ğ ine yönelik tutumlar ı nda, bölüm ve gelece ğ e ili ş kin mesleki planlar ı na göre anlaml ı farkl ılı klar tespit edilmi ş tir. Gelece ğ e ili ş kin mesleki plan ı “hem mesle ğ imi hem de akademik kariyerimi yapmak istiyorum” do ğ rultusunda olanlar ö ğ retmenlik mesle ğ ine yönelik en yüksek tutuma sahip iken; “ö ğ retmenlik yapmay ı dü ş ünmüyorum” diyenlerin en dü ş ük tutuma sahip olduklar ı tespit edilmi ş tir

ABSTRACT
Higher Education period of individuals is the time period in which future plans are intensively made. Although most of the students set targets related to their own study domain, some of them may tend to prefer different professions. Taking this fact into consideration, this study aims to determine attitudes towards the teaching profession and future plans of preservice teachers who study at the Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education and the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology (CEIT). For this purpose, “Personal Information Form” and “Attitudes Towards Teaching Profession Scale” has been applied to preservice teachers . Preservice teachers’ future plans and anxiety about their profession were investigated using the items included in The Personal Information Form. Data obtained from the scale have been analysed with One Way ANOVA test. According to the results, there is a significant difference between preservice teachers’ attitudes towards their profession in terms of department and their professional future plans. Preservice teachers who aim both to work as a teacher and to make academic career have the highest attitude, on the other hand, those who do not plan to work as teacher have the lowest attitude towards teaching profession
